About UNIEP
The International Association of Painting Contractors (UNIEP) represents around 50,000 businesses through its member associations in twelve European countries. UNIEP has been the voice for painting contractors and allied trades since 1953 and has proved to be the authoritative trade association representing professional painters.
History
On 23rd October 1953, in Paris, eight countries represented by ten associations gathered to form the Union Internationale des Entrepreneurs de Peinture or UNIEP and Monsieur Pierre Laurent was elected the first President.
Since that time UNIEP has successfully lobbied to reduce VAT levels, fight to tackle youth unemployment, engage with the European Commission over VOC levels in paint and many other issues to provide the only international voice for professional painters.
Today there are twelve countries represented in UNIEP and the membership is growing. Across the European Union, some 165,000 painting business employ over 1.5 million professional painters and UNIEP is the only trade organisation representing them.
UNIEP is registered in the Transparency Register of the European Parliament and Commission to proactively demonstrate openness and accountability in how it conducts its affairs.
